SSF
Skilled Samaritan Foundation, founded in 2012, works on providing steady income opportunities to women, girls, and artisans from marginalized communities across India, who do not have a formal education. This is done by providing skill development training and design support before connecting them to the market through our social enterprise, SIROHI.
Over the past decade, SSF has worked with 2,500+ livelihoods across 5 states in India, of which more than 90% are women.
We are all about BOSS stories, not the sob ones!
In India, women from rural communities are often discouraged from working due to deep-rooted cultural patriarchy, besides a lack of skilling opportunities for women. There are more than 56% of the total artisan force in India are women, who have craft skills but no design support or market access for their products. At SSF, women artisans are provided with high-quality online and offline design training and support to develop quality products that can generate sustainable revenues for them. Sirohi takes pride in the fact that we have been able to engage 2500+ artisans to date with an average wage of Rs. 3850/-, which is 40% above the traditional wages earned by the artisans. There is a ripple effect for the entire communities in that area which gets benefits from the increased income sources.
